1 Tutorial a Day-8th Entry Grunge Text

I thought today I would play around with text in illustrator, so I found a tutorial on www.tutorialized.com, follow the link to check it out. I have been doing a lot of tutorials in Photoshop so I try to even it out in both programs.

Here is the tutorial in full effect placed on a line drawing of a t-shirt.

I thought I would show a larger picture of the text in all its glory. Really simple just a grunge effect on the text making it look worn out and scratched.

Here is my version, I decided to place it on a different background and I had this picture on my desktop. I took the Illustrator file and copy pasted it into Photoshop to mess with the perspective and to just place it into the picture. I used a blend mode of Multiply and it looked like it was part of the picture. This tutorial was a little time consuming because the link they hadd to get the vectors that create the stressed look didn’t work. I had to go looking for some vector patterns, and the pattern I found was very complex and slowed Illustrator down a lot. I found the patterns at thinkdesignblog.com, check it out they have a bunch of great freebies. Overall a cool effect and an easy enough tutorial they do not really give you any closure on making all the parts one final group and placing it anywhere, like the t-shirt for example. I figured out what to do with it though.
