1 Tutorial a Day- 24th Expresive Lighting Effects
Posted on 11/08/09 by FranciscoThis is a cool tutorial I have seen in every search I have done for tutorials. I was looking for quick tutorials so i always passed it up. Recently I decided I don’t need to limit myself to quick tutorials instead I would do whatever I thought was cool. I took a an hour or longer one day and came back to it today to finish it today. I found this tutorial at computerarts.co.uk if you like the look go ahead and check them out. You have to download a PDF with the instructions to do the tutorial this was the first time I had to do that.
.

Here is the final image of this tutorial, I think it is really cool. I have seen this technique done on a lot of different images or at least something similar and think it is a very popular trend emerging in a lot of design. Here are a few examples of similar designs I found.

Below is my final design, my friend Pat catching some air dunking.
This tutorial was a little hard to follow it needed just a little more description in some of the steps. It would say to do this or that and not tell you how to do it. I got the just of it though, there were some steps where the author added his own sketches which he scanned and traced in Illustrator. I used some photoshop brushes and did not use my own sketches. I also added some things here and there like the background texture. This tutorial was pretty cool, I used Illustrator and Photoshop, overall it was not so easy to follow but had a great final effect.
A little fun with a logo
Posted on 11/03/09 by FranciscoI have been trying to tone up on some logo skills and practice makes perfect. I have been trying to stay busy with some sort of graphic design work so that I can get better with every project. Here is a logo I have been working on, just something that came to mind and I decided to roll with it.
.
This is my black and white version, it has been said that a successful logo should be able to translate into black and white well.

I went on to add some color and switch the look up a little. I have been visiting the site logopond.com and looking at the awesome logo work on there. It is a great site and is very inspirational.

Here is another version just a little change up to see some different looks. I think I am partial to the second logo myself.
