This is a cool tutorial I have seen in every search I have done for tutorials. I was looking for quick tutorials so i always passed it up. Recently I decided I don’t need to limit myself to quick tutorials instead I would do whatever I thought was cool. I took a an hour or longer one day and came back to it today to finish it today. I found this tutorial at computerarts.co.uk if you like the look go ahead and check them out. You have to download a PDF with the instructions to do the tutorial this was the first time I had to do that.

.

Here is the final image of this tutorial, I think it is really cool. I have seen this technique done on a lot of different images or at least something similar and think it is a very popular trend emerging in a lot of design. Here are a few examples of similar designs I found.

Below is my final design, my friend Pat catching some air dunking.

This tutorial was a little hard to follow it needed just a little more description in some of the steps. It would say to do this or that and not tell you how to do it. I got the just of it though, there were some steps where the author added his own sketches which he scanned and traced in Illustrator. I used some photoshop brushes and did not use my own sketches. I also added some things here and there like the background texture. This tutorial was pretty cool, I used Illustrator and Photoshop, overall it was not so easy to follow but had a great final effect.

Here is one I found that really looked cool and fun. I found it at www.youthedesigner.com a spot I have checked out a few times before, a definite site to check out. It has been a while since the last post, I will be trying to post more often so stay tuned in.

.

Here is the original and I think it’s a nice realistic looking rain cloud, pretty cool.

This is what I came up with I changed it up a little made the sky darker and I also added a couple more clouds. The tutorial was very easy to follow and had very few steps. I finished it up quick and added a new brush to my brushes palette. I think you could use this as part of a bigger piece maybe have the the rain falling on top a scene below, maybe that will be my next tutorial? You could also add some lightning that was something that came to me after I had finished and started this post.

I have been missing a few days of tutorials, so maybe I should call it “A Tutorial Every Couple Days”, but “A Tutorial a Day” just sounds better. I had started this one a few days ago but I had to go off somewhere so I only had a chance to really glance at it. So I decided to go back and do it all the way through. I found it at photoshoptutorials.ws go check it out it’s very easy and will only take a couple of minutes.

.

Here is the original picture they started with, pretty dark.

Then boom a whole lot of sunlight!

Here is my original not as dark as theirs but good enough for this tutorial.

Then bang sunshine in the morning! This tutorial is very simple and only takes about 2 steps. It’s nice to add a little something to those ordinary pictures. I think maybe a little smaller shine would work well also, but the big burst of light is pretty awesome. I think it gives the picture more drama, they are not so boring. Overall a very easy tutorial that can be very useful for certain images, not every image but for certain ones.

Here is one I have seen for a long time and just never tried it. I really like the movie Sin City so I was attracted to it as soon as I saw it. I found the tutorial at tutorialseeker.com, I like the name of this site because that is what I am a tutorial seeker!

Here is the tutorial image, it is very Sin City looking, very cool.

Here is my go at it I really liked this one, it was pretty easy only one minor problem. The thing I could not get was the rain like it was in the original, I tried to fix it a few times but couldn’t get it the similar to the original. I still like the final outcome though, very cool looking. I used a picture I had taken for an engagement session over a year ago, I cut out Jimmy and created it from there. This was easy enough to follow the set up of the steps on the page were not laid out well, they are kind of jumbled around. The tutorial could use a little more organization and a little more clarity on how to make the rain, but I was able to produce a cool image anyways.

Here is the original image from the tutorial, I know it’s a little blocked with the writing and the window. But the just of it is a light background image with a dark feathered edge.

I came up with this, a mix of my own background and a quote from Napoleon Hill. I made the background using some brushes I have, mixing the size and the brush. I placed a quote from a great author Napoleon Hill to create a main subject, the tutorial creates a white subtle space in the middle which is perfect for whatever you can come up with. This was a very easy tutorial a few steps and your done, the only time really needed to spend on this is coming up with what you want for a background and a foreground.

I am really excited about this one it’s really cool looking and teaches some possibilities that lie in the filters.
.

Here are the bloody veins of the original tutorial, nice and gross right? I think it’s very much a horror film style really awesome.

Here is my go at it and I like it, very easy to do with an awesome outcome! The tutorial was very easy to follow except when you get to the filter-render-lighting effects stage, you have to click on the little light bulb and drag a new light source in there and get rid of the old one by dragging it to the trashcan. The original light source just did not give off enough light to show the image, it was actually pretty dark and black with nothing really showing in the image so I had to figure that one out for myself.

I thought there were some more possibilities with this one so I changed a few things on this one, just for fun. I changed the font, messed with some of the colors and messed with the filters a little too, trying to make the veins a little more intense and juicy. This is one more tutorial that shows you the possibilities using filter-render-clouds and filter-render-difference clouds. The veins were created using those filters and 2 other filters no line drawing or hard work, just messing with the filters. I think overall it was pretty easy, very few steps and an awesome outcome.

I saw this one and thought it went along with the previous tutorials I have been doing. It has a very space Sci-Fi thing going on, I think there are a lot of tutorials and possibilities that fall in the Sci-Fi category. I found this one at www.thedesignworld.com, this the second time I have done a tutorial from this site.

Here is the effect the way it’s displayed from the tutorial, very trippy looking. Looks like it could be used for the Armegeddon movie cover or something.

Now here is mine and it doesn’t really look like the original. I tried to change some settings, I toned it down a little when messing with the hue because if I copied it the way it was described in the tutorial, that glow in the middle gets overwhelming and turns the image totally red. You can see the red starting to form in this one and I could not fix that problem. The fireball still looks cool, it just doesn’t pick up all the flames on the outside like the original.

This is a another awesome texture tutorial in Photoshop that I found that just looks totally Sci-Fi. I found this over at cool-photoshop-tutorials.blogspot.com, pay them a visit and check it out.

Here is the OG image from the site, I just think it’s very trippy. There are a lot of different ways to mess with it I think and just make it totally funky.

This is a look at what I came up with, it’s made with bunch of linear gradient lines in different colors. Then you add a filter to the gradients layers and then copy and flip them a couple of times. A very easy tutorial, very easy to follow and there were just a couple of steps to follow. I can see a lot of steps that I could manipulate to create some different effects and there is a lot to play with to create crazy different images.

Here is something I put together to just play around with the tutorial and show some of the fun that you can have. I just threw it together real quick using some images from previous tutorials. There is a lot of fun to have with this one in my opinion, I really like it.
