A look at Columbia Pike from the top on down as I walked from Courthouse Road towards Arlington Cinema and Drafthouse.

A look at the top of Columbia Pike with the new construction on the right and the new apartments further down on the left. I think these 2 buildings show a bit of the difference between the old and the new of Columbia Pike, the new buildings tower over the old Columbia Pike.

A little further down the street is the south side Landmark Bob & Edith’s, this tiny spot serves food all morning and all night. The small parking lot and the fact that the smoking section is an arm lengths away from the non-smoking section, does not stop customers from eating here all times of the day.

Right across from the 1 floor 15 table diner Bob and Edith’s is this huge monstrosity which will have apartments and retail space throughout the bottom. I think this building is the most recent sign that south Arlington is catching up to north Arlington, slowly but surely.

The scene that will probably be a common sight on Columbia Pike for the next year.

The sign for the recently closed Giant on Columbia Pike, I hope one of these new buildings has a grocery store. I’m anxious to see what goes up here, I hear the majority of the space is going to be a park. I wonder if whatever it is that goes up here will keep the name Adams Square?

Here is the typical look of Columbia Pike, a small strip of mom & pop shops. The look has not changed in these places in a long time, same signage and the same window displays. They just have this feeling about them, it says oldschool.

A true testament to the look and feel of the Columbia Pike, this outside seating is surrounded by a garden laced with some Christmas lights and a couple different umbrellas. I love it!

Another set of small shops across the street from the new building being built that I photographed earlier. These shops carry the same feel as a lot of the other shops on Columbia Pike, they just sport a different color. Theses small shops supply everything you need, and they are all up and down Columbia Pike.
