I was looking for quick tutorials so i always passed it up. Recently I decided I don’t need to limit myself to quick tutorials instead I would do whatever I thought was cool. I took a an hour or longer one day and came back to it today to finish it today. I found this tutorial at computerarts.co.uk if you like the look go ahead and check them out. You have to download a PDF with the instructions to do the tutorial this was the first time I had to do that.

Here is the final image of this tutorial, I think it is really cool. I have seen this technique done on a lot of different images or at least something similar and think it is a very popular trend emerging in a lot of design. Here are a few examples of similar designs I found.

This tutorial was a little hard to follow it needed just a little more description in some of the steps. It would say to do this or that and not tell you how to do it. I got the just of it though, there were some steps where the author added his own sketches which he scanned and traced in Illustrator. I used some photoshop brushes and did not use my own sketches. I also added some things here and there like the background texture. This tutorial was pretty cool, I used Illustrator and Photoshop, overall it was not so easy to follow but had a great final effect.

Then bang sunshine in the morning! This tutorial is very simple and only takes about 2 steps. It’s nice to add a little something to those ordinary pictures. I think maybe a little smaller shine would work well also, but the big burst of light is pretty awesome. I think it gives the picture more drama, they are not so boring. Overall a very easy tutorial that can be very useful for certain images, not every image but for certain ones.

Here is my go at it I really liked this one, it was pretty easy only one minor problem. The thing I could not get was the rain like it was in the original, I tried to fix it a few times but couldn’t get it the similar to the original. I still like the final outcome though, very cool looking. I used a picture I had taken for an engagement session over a year ago, I cut out Jimmy and created it from there. This was easy enough to follow the set up of the steps on the page were not laid out well, they are kind of jumbled around. The tutorial could use a little more organization and a little more clarity on how to make the rain, but I was able to produce a cool image anyways.

This is what the tutorial had as their final image, a cool effect that looks pretty fun.

This is the one I came up with I used a picture I took of a flower a while back. Pretty easy tutorial, it was a little off when it came to the specifics of the steps. I had to play around a little with it but that only took a couple of minutes. It kind of looks like a ball of energy is being released from the flower or maybe even pollen that glows. I changed it up a little, I used a different pattern for the background and added an inner shadow to the flower. When you have time to work on these tutorials you can play around and tweak the effects more and more.

Here is the look chromed out with a little color in there. Now every one who has messed around with Photoshop has probably come across the Plastic Wrap filter which gives a some what similar effect. But this was totally done in Layer Styles which is great for learning about Layer Styles.

Here is my version, I decided to add a reflection, some strokes of light and some bling. I made the reflection in 2 seconds you can check out how HERE, I have been doing that one for a while so it gets easier and faster every time. Actually my friend ryan showed me that one, you can check out his cool graphic design over at mean-e.com. The strokes of light are from a paintbrush set I found on the internet a while back, just do a google search and you will find them or something cooler. I just added all that stuff to change it up a little, you have to make these tutorials yours in some way. Have fun with them and experiment with the possibilities that’s what I did. There you have it something for that special someone! CINTA!

Here is the original image I started with, another one of my great friend Johnny O.. There are some very crucial Photoshop moves to be learned in this one.

Here is my new Johnny O. image I think it’s pretty awesome, the tutorial was pretty easy to follow as well. I think the one thing to keep in mind is when you place all of your vector shapes, make sure they cover the mouth and eyes if you use a picture of a person. Those details should show I think they are important to keep in mind. I used some vectors that were in the same file as the vectors I used for a tutorial a couple days ago. Another key step is to increase the contrast of your image before you go through the steps of the tutorial, I did not really mess with the contrast. The tutorial might be a little confusing if you try to get through it fast, you should slow down and take it step by step it’s a lot easier that way.

I thought this was very artistic the title was Mosaic and I thought it was really cool. The close up picture and all the colors are very attractive to me.

Here is my go at it, very easy tutorial to try it teaches you about defining a pattern in photoshop. I defined the pattern in one document and applied the pattern overlay in another. I think the larger you go on the pixel size of your pattern the better, you can see the difference between mine and the one done on the tutorial site. Overall a pretty cool effect in my opinion, we will see what tomorow brings.
